Sendo encontrado pela primeira vez na estrutura das grandes pirâmides do Egipto, este ângulo pode ser descoberto, vezes sem conta, em pinturas, esculturas e na arquitectura. Associado tanto ao imaginário simbólico da antiguidade, como da contemporaneidade. Surgindo frequentemente em obras subjacentes a temas como a morte, batalhas, guerra ou conflito. Podemos apenas especular quanto ao significado oculto deste ângulo e a intenção com que os artistas o utilizavam. Associado ao ângulo do eixo da terra, que também mede 32,5º, os primeiros filósofos gregos consideravam este ângulo como sendo uma condição irregular, graças ao qual se sucediam as estações do ano. No ciclo da vida, em que o conflito e a guerra são vistos como elementos intrínsecos da experiencia e da natureza humana, podemos interpretar este ângulo como sendo algo que resulta ou reflecte deste desvio do eixo da terra, simbolizando o desequilíbrio e desarmonia da condição humana. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-size:small;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-family:arial;"&gt;Recorrendo a ângulos de 23.5º na sua construção, a obra “Anagrama”, combina duas peças idênticas que se desenvolvem a partir de um eixo central. O significado exacto desta coluna é incerto. Era também usado pelos egípcios como um amuleto&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-size:small;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-family:arial;"&gt; (feito na maior parte dos casos em faiança&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-size:small;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-family:arial;"&gt;), que se considerava importante no processo de transformação na forma espiritual que se teria no Além. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-size:small;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-family:arial;"&gt;A escultura &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;i&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-size:small;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-family:arial;"&gt;“Djed”,&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/i&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-size:small;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-family:arial;"&gt; propõe reinterpretar este símbolo do antigo Egipto, na sua morfologia. Venerada pelos judeus, como objecto sagrado, até ao seu desaparecimento, a arca está rodeada de lendas e mistérios que nos fascinam desde sempre. Perdida ou procurada para sempre, a escultura “Aron” recria um elemento de dimensões simbólicas e espirituais, extensas. Aproximando-se das dimensões da arca bíblica, não pretende ser uma recriação literal, mas sim alegórica. Como uma “escultura hermenêutica”, “Aron”, interpreta um objecto que é testemunhado apenas pelos textos sagrados, apresentando-o à nossa compreensão de forma palpável. style="font-family:arial;"&gt;Nasceu nos Estados Unidos da América em 1975. Licenciado em Artes Plásticas – Escultura (Faculdade de Belas Artes de Lisboa, 2000). A sua produção artística tem vindo a ser desenvolvida de forma coesa e pessoal. Expondo desde a década de 90, tem participado em diversas exposições, dando a conhecer obras em diversos materiais e linguagens (ferro, vidro, madeira) onde a natureza abstracta e simbólica tomam forma, abordando áreas como a ciência, a alquimia ou a dimensão espiritual da obra de arte. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoBodyText2"  style="text-align: justify;font-family:arial;"&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-size:small;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-family:arial;"&gt;O predomínio de formas geométricas como pressuposto estruturante, criam um forte dialogo entre a sua obra e o espaço, fugindo à monumentalidade e aproximando-se da instalação. Como&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style=" ;font-family:Georgia;"&gt;&lt;img src="http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif" alt="Justificar completamente" border="0" class="gl_align_full" /&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style=" ;font-family:arial;"&gt; se pode verificar no projecto da exposição “Opus Magnum” (galeria franco steggink, Lagoa, 2002) caracterizando-se pela “linguagem abstracta e geométrica, contendo múltiplas referências a objectos primordiais do nosso imaginário, a determinadas formas e fórmulas puras que concebemos e que muito raramente encontramos. Uma espécie de orgânico quase impossível, mas que é esculturalmente realizável” (Eduardo Duarte, 2002).&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoBodyText"  style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify;font-family:arial;"&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-size:small;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-family:arial;"&gt;“Poder-se-ia falar de alquimia? É o artista um alquimista? Em certos aspectos Daniel Oliveira o é, pois, ao tocar em matérias que à partida não seriam chamadas para o mundo da arte, transformou-as em símbolos, em objectos de culto”. “Emblemas” (galeria abraço; Lisboa, 2003) é apresentada uma série de esculturas mais intimistas, “onde entramos num mundo com objectos que são retirados não só do quotidiano, como também nos aparecem roubados à infância e ao mundo dos sonhos, como se fosse possível alguém entrar no nosso mais profundo ser e levar o que de mais precioso temos, construindo assim uma espécie de museu pessoal que poderia ser, no limite, o museu da humanidade”. Uma tentativa de resposta ao que é a escultura, foi levada a cabo na exposição “Passagens” (Palácio dos Arcebispos, Loures, 2004). Evidenciando a relação simbólica da forma com o espaço e o contexto social, recorrendo, para tal, aos sólidos platónicos. Ainda que concebidas de forma autónoma, estas esculturas funcionam como um conjunto quer pela sua presença como pela sua lógica de ocupação dos espaços. Saindo da galeria, estas passaram a fazer parte do dia-a-dia de uma comunidade desabituada ao contacto com a obra de arte, interagindo e interrogando-a.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoBodyText" style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify"&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-size:small;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-family:arial;"&gt;Com um percurso formal afastando-se do experimentalismo das vanguardas artísticas. Esta crença deriva para os budistas do poder dos sons e formulas às quais divindades estão relacionadas. Esta é igualmente uma forma extremamente eficaz de oração para uma comunidade na sua grande maioria iletrada. &lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal" style="TEXT-INDENT: 35.4pt; TEXT-ALIGN: justify"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:10;"&gt;Geralmente de forma cilíndrica, em madeira e/ou bronze, estas rodas são ricamente adornadas e decoradas com mantras e símbolos budistas. Colocadas à entrada de recintos sagrados, fazem-se girar pela mão dos peregrinos, e em alguns casos pela força da água. &lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal" style="TEXT-INDENT: 35.4pt; TEXT-ALIGN: justify"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:10;"&gt;A obra “Prayer Wheel” consiste numa coluna formada por três secções cilíndricas em madeira com 100x120cm, sobrepostas e fixas por um eixo central e base em ferro. Cada secção terá movimento, gerado por um motor interno, os quais, ligados em sequência, farão girar cada um sobre o eixo de forma alternada. Tal como nas rodas de oração, aqui o movimento será induzido pelos observadores por intermédio de um sensor de presença. &lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal" style="TEXT-INDENT: 35.4pt; A arte consegue dizer-nos o que por palavras nunca conseguimos explicar, porque os tesouros não se dizem e as palavras não chegam. Estes Emblemas lembram algo de religioso por se assemelharem a relíquias banhadas a ouro, o mais precioso e também o mais perfeito dos metais. Muitas vezes associado à luz (da qual possui brilho) tem carácter solar e até divino: tanto a carne dos deuses como a dos faraós egípcios é feita de ouro, os ícones de buda são dourados (como sinal de iluminação e perfeição absoluta). Por isso, ao serem minuciosamente forradas a folha de ouro, estes objectos transformaram-se em alvos de culto e ganharam uma simbologia própria.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-family:arial;"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal" style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify"&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-family:arial;"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal" style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify"&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-family:arial;"&gt;Longinquamente lembrar-nos-iamos dos ready-made de Armanm ou os objectos prateados de Lourdes Castro, mas o que o escultor pretende mão é trazer para o espaço museológico peças que pertencem ao nosso quotidiano, mas sim torná-las em algo que jamais poderá fazer parte do nosso dia-a-dia. Estes Emblemas possuem – tal como é inerente à própria palavra – um sentido simbólico e alegórico que faz&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-family:arial;"&gt; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-family:arial;"&gt;com que, de certo modo, vejamos neles algo de primordial: por um lado estes objectos pertencem-nos, por outro ele deixaram de ser nossos porque foram transformados em algo maior a que já não podemos aceder.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-family:arial;"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal" style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify"&gt; &lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal" style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify"&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-family:arial;"&gt;Poder-se-ia falar de alquimia? É o artista um alquimista? Em certos aspectos estou convicta de que Daniel Oliveira o é, pois, ao tocar em matérias que à partida não seriam chamadas para o mundo da arte, transformou-as em símbolos, em objectos&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-family:arial;"&gt; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-family:arial;"&gt;de culto idênticos aos que seriam as relíquias de santos.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-family:arial;"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal" style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify"&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-family:arial;"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal" style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify"&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-family:arial;"&gt;Num tempo em que a religião nem sempre se encontra presente a as relíquias são bens supérfluos e descartáveis, estes emblemas – a escada da ascensão, a árvore da vida – ganham uma aura e parecem poder ajudar-nos numa busca do que é realmente a essência da vida. Algumas das peças de Daniel Oliveira, que conheço, têm o seu quê de nome próprio. Do apelido do próprio escultor. Pensamos que, não raras vezes, como que a genealogia e a etimologia se apresentam como duas faces de uma mesma moeda, ou, como preferem os escultores, da mesma medalha. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt; A sua linguagem abstracta e geométrica contém múltiplas referências a objectos primordiais do nosso imaginário, a determinadas formas e fórmulas puras que concebemos e que muito raramente encontramos. Uma espécie de orgânico quase impossível, mas que é esculturalmente realizável. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt; Os trabalhos que ora se apresentam, formalmente, remetem-nos para a pura forma circular. Para o círculo solar e lunar. A forma perfeita para o Homem do Renascimento. A própria Forma... As esculturas evocam pois a pureza formal e também o material da mesma - a madeira. Este material, antiquíssimo, é por si só escultoricamente puro. Pena que muitos hoje já não o entendam assim. A etimologia da palavra madeira vem do latim materia - matéria, princípio das coisas, matéria de que uma coisa é feita, materiais para um trabalho. Os sentidos figurados da palavra são igualmente estimulantes: matérias, assunto, tema, alimento, ocasião, pretexto; fontes, recursos do espírito; assunto tratado, questão, exposição. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt; A escultura sempre se fez em madeira. Em Portugal, sobretudo, de madeira e de barro, duas matérias primordiais e puras. O barro com que Deus fez o Homem e a matéria onde Cristo morreu, o lenho da cruz. A escultura em talha dourada é talvez antropologicamente a nossa verdadeira escultura. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt; Mas a madeira constitui ainda, na tradição ariana e indiana, a substância primordial que dá forma a todas as coisas - Brama; é ela própria a matéria-prima dos gregos (hylé). É um material protector, o lugar dos cultos benéficos das árvores e em última instância a matéria da Árvore da Vida, uma das metáfora recorrentes da Criação (como o Sol e a Lua). &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt; Sol, Lua e Alquimia estão presentes no trabalho do escultor. Vejo igualmente nele troncos, árvores, bosques, florestas. Formas com vida (a madeira, ao contrário do barro e da pedra, tem circulação, seiva, vida) que esculpem a própria Luz. Essa deve ser a palavra chave de toda a exposição em vez dos sempre aborrecidos e estéreis "ismos", que muitos gostam de utilizar e de permanentemente tentar... &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt; Um açoreano com nome de árvore abençoada, árvore de paz, de vitória, de alegria, de abundância, de pureza, de imortalidade, de virgindade, evoca nos seus objectos terrenos o que está no céu, provavelmente sobre os bosques verdes, como as suas Ilhas, numa metáfora e num discurso quase celta... &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style=";font-family:Arial;font-size:100%;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Eduardo Duarte&lt;br /&gt;Prof. Fac. Estes, formando cinco corpos regulares, são as unidades básicas dos cinco elementos. Uma das salas do Palácio é decorada com painéis alusivos aos quatro elementos a às estações do ano. A arquitectura do lugar evidencia a importância dada aos elementos. Terra – pelos inúmeros espaços verdes; água – fonte monumental; poços e aqueduto; Ar – pombais e cata-vento; Fogo – organização dos espaços em função do sol.&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal" style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Arial;"&gt;Os sólidos platónicos eram tidos como símbolos demonstrativos das diferentes fases de desenvolvimento do ser na sua peregrinação pelo mundo. Por analogia, a Casa do Gaiato é igualmente um lugar de desenvolvimento do ser. Albergando crianças, oferecendo-lhes conforto material, emocional e espiritual. E aos adultos como local de encontro e diálogo.
